Hey mongers, Seven here. I’m still in Cali, enduring frigid temps and the cloying family without a moment’s peace. But you’ve got the world by the tail, friends. You’re in BKK, where the Christmas and New Year’s do’s are fanfuckintastic. I know because for the past several years, I’ve made a tradition of hitting the best hotel buffets and multi-course holiday meals that are worth the money. And though I can’t be there to rate them this year, I can tip you guys off to the ones I know will kick Saint Nick’s ass. Here are my recommendations for December chow-down’s:
Bardo Social Bistro and Bar, Sathorn https://www.facebook.com/bardobangkok
At time of posting, Bardo hasn’t advertised their Christmas multi-course dinner. Here’s hoping they don’t skip it this year, because theirs is absolutely fabulous. I’ve hit them up for three of the last four xmases and was blown away each time. They typically start you off with a welcome glass of bubbly followed by choice of small bites. Then a main, then a cheese dish, and finishing with dessert. Every bite is a revelation. Every morsel a gift from the food gods. Below is a gallery of past plates, plus the menus from 2020 and 2021.
Viu St Regis Hotel https://www.marriott.com/offers/christmas-at-viu-OFF-138269/BKKXR-the-st-regis-bangkok
This is hands down the best holiday buffet in Bangkok. Words can’t describe how incredible it is, so I’ll let the photos do the talking…
The Sofitel Sukhumvit https://www.sofitel-bangkok-sukhumvit.com/festive-2024/?utm_source=Facebook&utm_medium=PostEN&utm_campaign=SBS-FestiveOffer2024-EN&fbclid=IwY2xjawHJWy1leHRuA2FlbQIxMAABHbIwcIzgeh64vFVoiVtR29_k6rMrdBVmYymHaG9IV239teUhuKsR8KWnGA_aem_czIok01N7amlk3Kz6s6eIg
If The St Regis is the best for quality, Sofitel Suk is the best for balancing quality with quantity. You get a lot more at the Sofitel–more of everything. More sides, more seafood, more meats, just more-more-more. They have full stations dedicated to each facet of the experience, and the service is top-notch. Here’s just a smattering of the heavenly fare…
The Westin Grande Sukhumvit https://www.myclubmarriott.com/hotel/offerdetail/en/2024-season-s-greetings
If the Regis and Sofitel would break your bank, then the Westin is your go-to holiday buffet. It’s easily more affordable than the others, and still packs a wallop with more bang for your buck. Everything’s pretty much the same as the fancier do’s, just scaled back in proportion to the lower price tag. Here’s the gallery…
G’s German Restaurant, Silom https://www.facebook.com/@GsBangkokRestaurant
I’m throwing in G’s German because they’re my favorite joint in Silom, and because Guido really puts on a great holiday festive meal. It’s a multi-course dinner, typically featuring saffron soup, cheese spring rolls, duck, and venison, along with a decadent dessert, all accompanied by delectable drinks. The whole affair from soup to nuts is really something special. Here’s the gallery…
I hope this post whets your appetite for the upcoming pig-out season, and since I can’t be there I hope you’ll all go out and stuff your faces in one or more of these great places. Don’t miss Bardo, or G’s if you’re in that part of town. Enjoy the season, gents. Bon appetit.
